Privacy Policy

This Privacy Policy explains how Applegate Monitor ("the Service"), operated by Richard Applegate, collects, uses, and protects information when you access a status dashboard or log in to the platform.

1. Information We Collect

We collect minimal information necessary to operate the Service:

• Session data — when you log in, a secure session cookie is stored in your browser to keep you authenticated. This cookie contains no personally identifiable information beyond your session ID.
• Login credentials — usernames and hashed passwords for registered accounts. Passwords are stored as one-way cryptographic hashes and are never stored or transmitted in plain text.
• Server monitoring data — status check results, uptime history, response times, and incident logs for servers you manage. This is operational data, not personal data.
• Server-side logs — standard HTTP request logs (IP address, timestamp, path) may be retained temporarily for debugging and security purposes.

We do not collect names, email addresses, payment information, or any tracking or analytics data from public dashboard visitors.

2. Cookies

The Service uses a single session cookie to maintain your login state. This cookie is:

• HTTP-only (not accessible to JavaScript)
• Session-scoped or short-lived
• Not used for advertising, tracking, or analytics

Public dashboard visitors who are not logged in receive no cookies.

3. How We Use Information

Information collected is used solely to:

• Authenticate registered users and maintain login sessions
• Display server status, uptime history, and incident data
• Send webhook alerts when a monitored server changes status
• Diagnose errors and maintain the security of the platform

We do not sell, rent, share, or disclose your information to any third parties for commercial purposes.

4. Data Storage and Security

All data is stored on self-hosted infrastructure controlled by Richard Applegate. We apply reasonable technical measures to protect stored data, including hashed passwords, HTTP-only session cookies, and network-level access controls.

No system is completely secure. If you become aware of a security concern, please contact us immediately at admin@richardapplegate.io.

5. Data Retention

Status check history and incident logs are retained for up to 30 days by default. Session data is cleared when you log out or when the session expires. Account data is retained for as long as the account exists. You may request deletion of your account and associated data at any time by contacting us.

6. Third-Party Services

The Service is entirely self-hosted and does not use third-party analytics, advertising networks, or tracking services. Google Fonts are loaded via a CDN for typography — this is a standard browser request subject to Google's own privacy policy.

7. Children's Privacy

The Service is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children. If you believe a child has provided us with information, please contact us and we will delete it promptly.

8. Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. The effective date at the top of this page will reflect the most recent revision. Continued use of the Service after any changes constitutes your acceptance of the updated policy.
